HCMC – The Danang City People’s Committee has approved a development plan for the inland waterway terminal system, with a proposal to build seven new terminals along the Han River to serve tourism and enhance transportation connectivity.
The new terminals are planned to be built at Thanh Nien Park, the end of Tran Thi Ly Street, near Nguyen Van Troi Bridge, the Ca Chep Hoa Rong Statue square, APEC Park, the DHC Marina, and the Han River Port area.
Along with the addition of new terminals, the plan also calls for upgrading and adjusting existing inland waterway terminals to ensure long-term operations.
By 2030, Danang is expected to have 26 terminals, with the number rising to 29 by 2050, strategically located along six major rivers and the coastal corridor.
The city will have 15 terminals serving passenger transport, cargo, and tourism; six terminals designated for specialized, internal, or emergency use; and five existing terminals that are not yet eligible for full operation.
By 2050, the entire inland waterway terminal system will expand to around 9.6 hectares to accommodate the city’s growing needs for river and marine transportation and tourism development.
Local authorities said that the development of the inland waterway terminal system is not only aimed at improving transportation and tourism, but also at easing pressure on road traffic, enhancing riverside connectivity, and promoting urban growth in a modern and sustainable direction.
