HCMC – A deer weighing around 120 kilograms was recently sighted on Rung Sac Road in HCMC’s outlying district of Can Gio, leaving many people astonished, the local media reported.
Its appearance was captured in a 27-second video clip shared on social media on March 13. The footage shows a mature deer with black fur and impressive antlers leisurely strolling along Rung Sac Road, sparking intrigue and surprise among locals.
According to a representative from the HCMC Forest Protection Department, there are no wild deer known to inhabit the Can Gio protective forest.
The deer spotted on the road is believed to be one that had escaped from captivity back in September 2022. The Can Gio Forest Management Board is currently in the process of identifying and recapturing the animal.
This sighting brings to mind a similar incident in the northern province of Cao Bang, where four wallabies were discovered, captured and taken care of by the Hoang Lien Rescue Center. Unfortunately, two of the wallabies succumbed to cold weather.
