HCMC – Dengue fever cases in HCMC in the year through July 13 have soared by 159.4% compared with the same period last year to 13,538, with 10 of them reported dead, according to the HCMC Center for Disease Control.
Within the city’s previous administrative boundaries, 11,914 cases were recorded, up 167.1% year-on-year. Of these, 222 were severe, and six patients died.
The former Binh Duong Province reported 2,695 cases, a 148% rise, with 65 severe cases and three deaths. The former Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province logged 929 cases, up 109.2%, and one death.
Health authorities said the disease is spreading quickly across the region. Local governments have stepped up monitoring, conducted risk assessments, and sprayed for mosquitoes.
