HCMC – Deputy Foreign Minister To Anh Dung and Nguyen Quang Linh, assistant to the Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, have been dismissed following their arrests and expulsion from the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai has signed two separate decisions firing Deputy FM To Anh Dung and Nguyen Quang Linh, assistant to the Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, for their serious violations while on duty.
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chaired a meeting of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat on September 27 to announce the decisions to expel Dung and Linh from the Party for their violations related to Covid-19 repatriation flights.
Dung was prosecuted and detained in April this year by Ministry of Public Security (MPS) investigators on alleged charges of taking bribes in connection with the arrangement of the repatriation flights.
Linh was found to have abused his power and violated the Party rules and Vietnam’s laws in arranging Covid repatriation flights. He also violated the don’ts for Party members.
The shortcomings and violations of these two caused serious consequences, sparked public concerns, and negatively affected the prestige of the Party.
Investigators at the Ministry of Public Security detained Linh on alleged charges of taking bribes shortly after the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee took disciplinary action by expelling him from the Party.
