HCMC – The Standing Committee of the National Assembly has issued a resolution relieving Do Duc Duy of his duties as a deputy of the 15th National Assembly.

The Secretary-General of the NA released a press statement regarding the decision to relieve Do Duc Duy of his duties as a deputy of the current 15th National Assembly.

On the morning of July 18, the NA Standing Committee convened a meeting to review and decide on Do Duc Duy’s request to step down as an NA deputy.

The decision was based on the Constitution, the Law on Organization of the National Assembly, relevant legal regulations, opinions from competent authorities, and a proposal submitted by the Standing Committee of the Deputies Affairs Committee.

After reviewing Duy’s resignation letter dated July 16, the NA Standing Committee discussed the matter, conducted a secret ballot, and issued Resolution 1769 to relieve Duy of his duties as a deputy of the 15th NA, representing the Lao Cai Province delegation.

On July 17, after reviewing a proposal by the Central Inspection Commission regarding disciplinary action against a violating Party member, the Politburo determined that Do Duc Duy, a member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Government’s Party Committee, secretary of the Party Committee, and minister of Agriculture and Environment during his tenure as deputy secretary of the Yen Bai Province Party Committee, secretary of the Party Civil Affairs Committee, and chairman of the Yen Bai Province People’s Committee, violated Party regulations and State laws in the execution of his assigned responsibilities. He breached the principles of democratic centralism and working regulations.

His violations of the don’ts for Party members and his failure to act as a role model, caused serious consequences, created negative public opinion, and undermined the reputation of the Party organization and the agency or unit where he worked.

Based on the nature, extent, consequences, and causes of the violations—and in accordance with the Party’s regulations on disciplining violating Party members—the Politburo decided to impose a disciplinary warning on Do Duc Duy.

On July 17, the State President signed Decision No. 1355 suspending Duy from his position as minister of Agriculture and Environment for the 2021–2026 term, effective the same day. The suspension remains in effect until the 15th NA formally relieves him of the ministerial post in accordance with regulations.

According to an announcement of the 12th plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee, the committee agreed to allow Duy, member of the Party Central Committee and minister of Agriculture and Environment, to step down from his position as a member of the 13th Party Central Committee.
