HCMC – The Politburo has proposed disciplinary action against Do Trong Hung, deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission and former Party Secretary of Thanh Hoa Province, for violations causing very serious consequences.
The decision followed a review of the Central Inspection Commission’s proposal on disciplinary measures for Party organizations and members, reported the Government news website (baochinhphu.vn).
The Politburo and the Secretariat of the Party found that the Thanh Hoa Party Standing Committee for the 2020-2025 term had violated Party principles and regulations, loosened leadership, and failed to carry out sufficient oversight.
These shortcomings led to violations in land, natural resources, and mineral management, as well as in anti-corruption, anti-waste, and other assigned duties. The violations were concluded to have caused serious consequences, risked major state budget losses, and damaged the reputation of the provincial Party organization and local authorities.
Do Trong Hung was found to have violated Party rules and state laws in his role as Thanh Hoa Party Secretary and Party Central Committee member, including in anti-corruption efforts. The Politburo said his violations were very serious and harmed the Party’s reputation.
Do Minh Tuan, deputy Party Secretary and chairman of the Thanh Hoa People’s Committee, was also found in violation and was removed from all Party positions.
Seven other senior officials, including former leaders of the former Thanh Hoa City and provincial departments, were expelled from the Communist Party of Vietnam.
The Politburo issued a warning to the Thanh Hoa Party Standing Committee for the 2020-2025 term and proposed that the Party Central Committee take disciplinary action against Do Trong Hung. The Party Secretariat requested state agencies to impose corresponding administrative sanctions.
