Domestic gold prices climb further

HCMC – Gold prices at several jewelry firms surged by over VND1 million per tael this morning, April 3, to nearly VND103 million per tael, the highest level ever, said local media reports.

At around 10 a.m. on April 3, Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), DOJI, and PNJ listed SJC-branded gold bar prices at VND100.1 million per tael for buying and VND102.8 million per tael for selling, up by VND1 million against the yesterday’s close.

Gold bar prices at Phu Quy Jewelry increased by VND1.1 million per tael compared to yesterday, currently trading at around VND99.8–102.8 million per tael.

Similarly, gold ring prices also climbed.

Phu Quy Jewelry set the buying and selling price for gold rings at VND99.8–102.8 million per tael, up by VND1 million.

At PNJ, plain gold rings traded at around VND99.9-102.8 million per tael, rising by VND800,000 on the buying side and VND1 million on the selling side.

After President Donald Trump announced an executive order imposing  sweeping reciprocal tariffs on U.S. trade partners worldwide, global gold prices became volatile.

According to the Vietnam News Agency, at 8:45 a.m. on April 3, gold traded at US$3,151 per ounce, rising by US$21 against the previous session. This price is equivalent to VND98.1 million per tael, based on the exchange rate at Vietcombank. Consequently, the price gap between domestic and global gold bars stood at around VND4.7 million per tael.
