HCMC – SJC-branded gold bars prices climbed to a new record high of VND142.5 million per tael this morning, October 9, extending their upward trend even as global prices remained largely unchanged at around US$4,022 per ounce.
As of 9 a.m., Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) and Doji listed their SJC gold bar prices at VND140.5 million for buying and VND142.5 million for selling, while Phu Quy Jewelry quoted them at VND140 million and VND142.5 million per tael, respectively. All three dealers raised their prices by VND600,000 per tael from the latest adjustment on October 8.
Gold ring prices were steady this morning after strong gains of up to VND1.2 million per tael yesterday. Phu Quy Jewelry maintained its ring gold prices at VND137.5 million for buying and VND140.5 million for selling, while Bao Tin Minh Chau continued to trade at VND138.2 million and VND141.2 million per tael.
On the global market, gold was traded at around US$4,022 per ounce, up US$10 from the previous session. Based on Vietcombank’s exchange rate, this equals roughly VND127.9 million per tael, nearly VND14.6 million lower than domestic prices.
This morning, the State Bank of Vietnam set the central exchange rate at VND25,130 per U.S. dollar, down three dong from the previous session. Commercial banks made similar downward adjustments, with most of them quoting the greenback for sale at VND26,386 per dollar.
Within the trading band of 5% on either side of the central rate, Vietcombank quoted the dollar at VND26,136–26,386 (buy/sell), VietinBank at VND26,155–26,386, BIDV at VND26,177–26,386, and Eximbank at VND26,150–26,386 per U.S. dollar.
