Dragon Capital no longer Hoa Sen Group’s major shareholder

HCMC – Dragon Capital has reduced its stake in Hoa Sen Group (HOSE: HSG) to below 5%. The divestment in August saw the fund selling over 11.17 million shares.

On August 28, Dragon Capital-related funds offloaded 3.5 million HSG shares, decreasing their stake from 5.43% to 4.86%. This move ended Dragon Capital’s status as a major shareholder.

Vietnam Enterprise Investments Limited, Amersham Industries Limited, and Norges Bank each sold one million HSG shares, while Hanoi Investments Holdings Limited divested 500,000 shares.

On August 16, 21, and 23, Dragon Capital offloaded over 7.67 million shares.

Closing the trading session today, September 4, HSG dipped by 2.4% to VND20,300 per share, with a trading volume of nearly 12 million shares.

The benchmark VN-Index lost 8.07 points, or 0.63%, over the previous session, at 1,275.8 points. Losers far outnumbered winners on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange by 313 to 117.

Trading volume and value improved13.5% and 16.3%, respectively, with 648.4 million shares worth VND15.72 trillion changing hands. Block deals accounted for 60.3 million shares valued at VND1.96 trillion.

VHM and VRE were among the top performers, helping to limit the VN-Index’s decline. VHM added 2.41% to VND42,500 per share, with 13.81 million shares traded, while VRE gained 2.6%, with 11.53 million shares changing hands.

Other blue-chip stocks saw modest gains. GAS edged up by 0.72% to VND83,900, CTG climbed by 0.71% to VND35,300, VNM rose by 0.45% to VND74,300, and BID inched up by 0.1% to VND48,950.

However, the VN30-Index, which tracks the performance of the 30 largest-cap stocks, fell by 13.81 points, or 1.04%, to 1,317.71 points, as there were only six gainers in the VN30 basket.

SSB was the biggest decliner, dropping by 3.65% to VND18,500. PLX lost 3.29% to VND47,000, while VPB and HDB dipped by 2.37% and 2.17%, respectively.

The HNX-Index lost 1.42 points, or 0.6%, to 236.14 points, with 60 advancers and 106 decliners. There were 51.5 million shares valued at VND1.04 trillion transacted on the northern exchange.
