Dragon Capital reduces stake in Duc Giang Chemicals

HCMC – Fund management firm Dragon Capital has lowered its ownership in Duc Giang Chemicals Group JSC, which is listed on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange (HOSE) under the stock code DGC, by selling 250,000 DGC shares.

On May 13, the investment funds associated with Dragon Capital sold 250,000 shares of DGC, reducing their ownership from 7.03% to 6.96% of the company’s charter capital.

The sale included 125,000 shares by Amersham Industries Limited and 125,000 shares by Norges Bank.

In the first quarter of 2025, Duc Giang Chemicals posted revenue of VND2.8 trillion, up 17.8% year-on-year. Its after-tax profit rose 18.9% to VND836.8 billion. The company’s gross profit margin improved from 32.1% to 34.9%.

Closing the trading session today, May 20, DGC inched up by 0.45% day-on-day to VND89,900, with nearly 1.8 million shares changing hands.

Regarding the stock market, 205 stocks gained while 133 declined on the HOSE, pushing the VN-Index up 18.86 points, or 1.45%, to 1,315.15 points.

Total trading volume reached nearly 952.6 million shares, with a value of VND22.93 trillion, up 5% in volume and 10% in value compared to the previous session. Block deal transactions accounted for over 77.2 million shares, worth VND2.61 trillion.

Vingroup stocks led the market rally, with VIC and VHM both hitting their ceiling prices and contributing a combined 10 points to the VN-Index.

VIC saw over 3.88 million shares traded and nearly 2.8 million other shares queued at the ceiling price. VHM recorded nearly 22 million shares traded with an excess ceiling-price buy volume of over 4.06 million shares.

Other blue-chip stocks also turned positive, with several stocks reversing earlier losses. Notably, TCB rose nearly 5% and BVH gained over 3%, while most others saw only modest increases.

On the northern bourse, the HNX-Index rose 0.46 points, or 0.21%, to 217.7, with 84 advancers and 72 decliners. Matching volume totaled over 58.7 million shares, valued at VND899.9 billion.
