HCMC – The police in Haiphong City have imposed a VND20 million fine on the driver of a 41-seat sleeper bus for carrying an excessive 81 passengers, said local news reports.
The sleeper bus, with license plate 18B-02538, was traveling along National Highway 10 from Nam Dinh Province to Mong Cai City when the traffic police in An Duong District, Haiphong City stopped it for inspection. The police discovered that 81 passengers were crammed into the bus designed for only 41 seats.
Vu Van Tieu, who is also the owner of the bus, was behind the wheel. The bus is managed by Thuan Thao transport company.
In addition to the VND20 million fine, the police ordered the transport company to transfer surplus passengers to another vehicle.
