For over 500 families in Huong My Commune, Mo Cay Nam District, Ben Tre Province, the inauguration on August 23, 2024 of a new concrete bridge was a special milestone. The bridge, 34 meters by 3.9 meters, enhances community development by ensuring safer and more convenient transportation, facilitating residents’ business and daily activities.
The VND400-million project received VND300 million in funding from DXC Vietnam. The bridge project, overseen by the HCMC Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients, is expected to significantly improve the quality of life in Mo Cay Nam. “This new bridge opens up brighter prospects for the next generation and enhances the well-being of the local community,” said a representative of DXC Vietnam, a well-established IT service provider based in HCMC.
“At DXC Vietnam, we believe in giving back to the communities where we live and work. This bridge is not just a structure; it represents our commitment to supporting sustainable development in underprivileged areas,” said Phuong Ngo, managing director of DXC Vietnam. “We are pleased to collaborate with the HCMC Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients on this meaningful project, which will have a lasting impact on the local community.”
Strong support for the community
Over the years, DXC Vietnam has consistently supported community development through various corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects. This dedication has been particularly evident in 2024, with a focus on healthcare and education.
In June, the company donated VND130 million to sponsor 141 cataract surgeries for underprivileged patients in rural provinces such as An Giang, Tien Giang, Long An, and Ben Tre. Additionally, the company provided 141 grocery gifts to these patients. “This employee-funded initiative aimed to restore sight and improve the quality of life for individuals who could not afford medical care,” said the company’s CEO.
Earlier, in November 2023, DXC Vietnam contributed VND50 million to Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital in HCMC to support medical treatment fees for poor patients facing serious health challenges.
In July 2024, to promote educational development in rural areas, DXC Vietnam donated 25 desktop computers through a CSR program initiated by the Youth Science & Technology Development Center of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. These computers were provided to Tan Kieu Secondary School in Dong Thap Province to establish a computer lab.
In addition, DXC Vietnam awarded 15 scholarships and gifts, with each worth VND800,000, to students with excellent academic results. “This initiative is part of DXC Vietnam’s broader mission to bridge the digital divide and ensure that students in remote areas have equal opportunities to succeed,” the company’s representative stated.
In March 2024, DXC Vietnam supported underprivileged students by donating used laptops to 17 students from poor families, in collaboration with the Red Cross. This initiative is part of the DXC Digital Futures Program, which redistributes technology to empower future generations through access to education.
Support for the underprivileged
Beyond community development, DXC Vietnam is committed to improving the living conditions of underprivileged individuals, especially during special occasions like festivals.
Earlier this year, in collaboration with the HCMC Red Cross, DXC Vietnam organized the “Tết Nhân Ái” program for low-income families in Nha Be District. The company donated 200 vouchers, which are worth VND600,000 each, for the beneficiaries to purchase essential groceries. “Lunar New Year is a time for joyful family reunions, and this program allowed us to share our love with the local community, ensuring a warm Tet for those in difficult circumstances,” the company representative said.
In December 2023, DXC Vietnam visited the Thien Binh Charity Center, a shelter for underprivileged children and the elderly, donating essential supplies and financial contributions totaling VND70.4 million. This gesture brought comfort to those in need and demonstrated DXC Vietnam’s dedication to making a tangible difference in the lives of the less fortunate.
“We believe that even small actions, driven by dedication and passion for a greater cause, can inspire others and help those in need, giving them hope during difficult times,” said Phuong Ngo.
Commitment to sustainable development
DXC Vietnam is also focused on environmental protection and nature conservation. On Earth Day, the company organized a Tree Planting Day at Can Gio Mangrove Forest. Held on April 19, 2024, the event saw enthusiastic participation from the DXC team, who planted trees and demonstrated their commitment to environmental sustainability. The company also donated 30 gifts, each valued at VND1.2 million, to 30 low-income families working as forest rangers in Can Gio.
Additionally, DXC Vietnam participated in the “Clean the House – Donate Trees” program organized by Gaia Nature Conservation. The company donated 17 boxes (approximately 314 kg) of used clothing, household items, and stationery to raise funds for reforestation efforts in Ben En Forest.
DXC Vietnam’s CSR initiatives reflect a deep commitment to social responsibility and community engagement. These programs have provided relief to those in need and contributed to sustainable development across Vietnam. Through these efforts, DXC Vietnam continues to build a better future, embodying the spirit of corporate citizenship and fostering a culture of compassion and generosity among its employees.
“Our community efforts have positively impacted employee morale and effectiveness, and we take pride in the fact that our employees give their time and energy to help others. By teaming up to offer our support, creativity, and financial contributions to our communities, we create positive changes that strengthen our community, open up new possibilities, and help people achieve progress and dreams,” said the company.
