HCMC – Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long has signed a directive to emphasize training programs in semiconductor and digital technology, and highlights the need for research and development in these sectors at universities.
Under Directive No. 43, the Ministry of Education and Training will develop a standardized curriculum for semiconductor study by the first quarter of next year. It will also propose policies for scholarships and tuition exemptions for students in semiconductor and digital technology fields, to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2025.
The directive calls for collaboration between the Government, universities, and businesses to train skilled workers. This includes creating training centers and approving programs focused on emerging technologies.
The Ministry of Science and Technology will guide research efforts at universities and research institutes. It aims to support the development of strong research teams and foster potential technology startups.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment will prioritize funding for semiconductor labs and propose incentives to attract talent. A framework for investment policies is expected to align with market needs.
The directive sets a deadline of the fourth quarter this year for universities to establish specialized departments for semiconductor and digital technology studies. It also encourages them to cooperate with international experts and institutions.
