HCMC – The Ministry of Health is collaborating with relevant units and agencies to address challenges in completing the second branches of Bach Mai Hospital and Viet-Duc University Hospital in Hanoi, with a goal of finishing construction by 2025.

At a press briefing on December 20, Deputy Minister of Health Le Duc Luan provided updates on the progress of the two hospital projects, which have faced significant obstacles since 2020.

According to the Government news site, delays have stemmed from complex issues related to contract implementation, signing, and deployment, with some aspects failing to meet regulatory requirements.

To resolve these challenges, the Ministry of Health has worked closely with other ministries and agencies, proposing special mechanisms and policies for the Government’s approval. If approved, both projects are expected to be completed within six months.

Construction on the second branch of Bach Mai Hospital is currently 97% complete, while the second branch of Viet-Duc University Hospital is 85% complete.

Regarding medical equipment, the Ministry of Health plans to reassess and adjust procurement based on current needs. Each hospital is allocated nearly VND1,000 billion for equipment procurement.

The second branch of Bach Mai Hospital, spanning 118,941 square meters, will have 1,000 beds and requires a total investment of VND4.99 trillion, with VND4.5 trillion sourced from the State budget.

Similarly, the second branch of Viet Duc University Hospital will also feature 1,000 beds across 117,714 square meters. The project’s total investment stands at VND4.97 trillion, funded primarily by the State budget along with additional sources.
