HCMC – The Ministry of Construction has declared an emergency situation to repair critical road infrastructure on Mimosa Pass in Lam Dong Province after heavy rainfall and storm impacts.

According to the ministry, the move covers the landslide-hit section of National Highway 20 passing through Mimosa Pass and related structures damaged by Typhoon Kalmaegi, the 13th storm that has struck the country this year, and its aftermath from November 18–20. The damage, managed by Project Management Unit 85 under the Ministry of Construction, poses a direct threat to the safety of pedestrians and vehicles.

The ministry has instructed the Department of Construction Investment Economics to assess the damage, identify the specific level of infrastructure impact, and implement emergency measures. These include reviewing the situation, proposing repair solutions, issuing construction orders, and ensuring compliance with legal regulations while mobilizing necessary funding.

The director of Project Management Unit 85 is responsible for reporting the damage and structural issues on the road section on Mimosa Pass to both the ministry and relevant authorities.

Earlier, on November 21, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung visited D’Ran Commune, Lam Dong, which suffered severe flooding, before inspecting landslide-affected sections of Prenn and Mimosa passes. The deputy prime minister ordered that Mimosa Pass be cleared and reopened within ten days.

At the landslide site, a design consultant presented two repair options: the first involves constructing a stone embankment through the pine forest to fill the landslide-affected section, which could take about 10 days; the second would build a bridge over the damaged stretch, exceeding 100 meters in length, which would take at least four months.
