HCMC – The Consulate General of Japan in HCMC held an event yesterday, February 29, to mark the 64th birthday of Emperor Naruhito.
Speaking at the event, Consul General Ono Masuo highly valued the enduring friendship between Japan and Vietnam and the deepening economic cooperation and cultural exchange between the two countries.
Bui Xuan Cuong, vice chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee, expressed appreciation of Japan’s support for the city’s development, calling for more Japanese involvement in infrastructure, technology, and human resource development projects in the city.
The event featured a traditional Japanese martial arts performance and a showcase of Japanese food.
Japan is HCMC’s third largest foreign investor. As of 2023, the southern city had attracted 1,700 Japanese-invested projects with combined capital of US$5.7 billion.
