HCMC – The Government has issued a decree extending the registration fee exemption for electric vehicles (EV) until the end of February 2027, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
Government Decree 51, signed by Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc, took effect on March 1.
According to the Ministry of Finance, Decree 10, issued on January 15, 2022, introduced an EV registration fee incentive, setting the initial fee at 0% for the first three years, from March 1, 2022, to March 1, 2025.
Under the original plan, the registration fee would then increase to half of the fee currently applicable to gasoline and diesel vehicles with the same seating capacity for the next two years.
However, the registration fee exemption has significantly benefited consumers, manufacturers, distributors, and the environment. In response, the Government issued Decree 51, amending Decree 10 and extending the full exemption for an additional two years, until February 28, 2027.
