HCMC – To promote the installation of rooftop solar panels among the public, the Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) launched a rooftop solar power platform called EVNSOLAR in Ho Chi Minh City on September 9.
Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper quoted Vo Quang Lam, Deputy General Director of EVN, as saying that EVNSOLAR will initially be available on the website at http://solar.evn.com.vn, providing comprehensive solutions for investors, individuals and businesses alike, to set up solar power on their roofs.
It will be operated via mobile apps, aimed at helping connect users better in the near future.
With this platform, a person wishing to install a rooftop photovoltaic power station, or rooftop PV system, can easily connect with reputable rooftop solar installation companies, apart from banks and financial institutions.
“The suppliers participating in the EVNSOLAR platform must commit to the quality of products and services,” said Lam, adding that for each project, the supplier must finish the detailed construction completion dossier, namely Solar Quality Passport, based on Germany’s evaluation standard. After installation, the investor is given an account to evaluate the quality on the platform.
According to EVN’s study, Vietnam holds great potential to develop solar power. Apart from millions of roofs of households, those of offices, schools, hospitals, restaurants, hotels, commercial centers and factories at industrial zones are also available.
Earlier this September, nearly 50,000 solar PV systems with a combined capacity of 1,200 MWp were put into operation.
Bui Quoc Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said households and businesses should be encouraged to invest in solar power to not only supply electricity for themselves but to also sell it back to EVN.
