Cam Thanh, located a few kilometers southeast of Hoi An Ancient Town in Danang City, is regarded as a unique ecological gem and an important hub for coastal tourism. With an extensive network of canals and nearly 100 hectares of water surface, it serves as a vital ecological convergence point, linking the Thu Bon River, Truong Giang River, and maritime routes to Cu Lao Cham Island.
The village is best known for the Bay Mau Nipa Palm Forest — a sprawling mangrove ecosystem often referred to as the “green lung” of central Vietnam. In 2009, UNESCO designated the area as part of the Cu Lao Cham – Hoi An World Biosphere Reserve, underscoring Cam Thanh’s international ecological significance.
Cam Thanh has developed a distinctive model of community-based tourism. Visitors can engage with local life by navigating the nipa palm forest in traditional basket boats, participating in farming activities, and gaining insight into the region’s cultural heritage.
