HCMC – A gas explosion on the first floor of the City Light building in Vinh Yen City, Vinh Phuc Province, injured seven people on Tuesday morning, local media reported.
The explosion occurred at 8:40 a.m. at a storefront under renovation for a restaurant named Premium Meat Korean BBQ, according to Nguyen Viet Phuong, chairman of the Vinh Yen City People’s Committee.
Among the injured were four interior workers, a security guard, and two South Korean nationals. They were taken to Vinh Phuc General Hospital. Their identity has not yet been disclosed.
Witnesses said the blast caused significant damage. Several gas cylinders were scattered around the store, while metal, wood, and plastic debris were strewn across hundreds of square meters of the surrounding area.
Nearby shops on the first floor of the City Light building had their windows shattered and cracked.
Vinh Phuc Province police arrived at the scene to investigate the cause of the explosion. Local agencies are working to stabilize the area and ensure the victims receive necessary medical care.
The investigation into the cause of the blast is underway.
