HCMC – Tourists and residents are descending on the Nguyen Hue Flower Street in downtown HCMC on February 7, as the street was opened to the public.
With the theme “Spring of Love, Tet of Togetherness”, the highlight of this year’s edition is the majestic pair of dragon sculptures, aptly named “Luong Long Trieu Lien” (two dragons flanking the lotus).
Crafted from eco-friendly materials like bamboo and rattan, these towering mascots exceed 100 meters in length. Their heads boast a circumference of over two meters each – an unprecedented scale for a zodiac animal sculpture in the event’s history.
Now in its 21st year, the event serves as the kickoff for the city’s Tet Festival 2024, accommodating the spring travel and enjoyment needs of city residents and tourists until 9 p.m. on February 14.
Nine golden trees, crafted by artisans from Mai Vang Rong Viet JSC, will make their debut on Nguyen Hue Flower Street this year.
Towering from 1 to 3.6 meters, these magnificent creations embody prosperity and auspicious wishes for the coming year.
Their evocative names, such as “Great Bliss Yellow Apricot Tree” (Mai Dai Phuc) and “Vietnamese Dragon Yellow Apricot Tree” (Mai Rong Viet), whisper blessings of fortune and success. Other names like “Immortality Peach Blossoms” (Dao Truong Xuan) and “Bliss and Fortune Peach Blossoms” (Dao Phuoc Loc) evoke themes of longevity and happiness.
The 600-meter flower street is designed to combine a vibrant palette of red, orange, and yellow from over 90,000 baskets of 99 flower varieties including carnations, geraniums, dahlias, begonias, and more.
Apart from these features, street performances also attracted visitors.
