HCMC – Vietnam’s fishery product exports amounted to US$4.4 billion in the first half of the year, up by nearly 7% year-on-year.

According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), the country’s fishery exports in June rose by 14% year-on-year to US$875 million, the highest monthly export revenue since the beginning of this year.

Exports of certain products saw significant growth last month. Tra fish soared by 22%, tuna by 40%, and crab by 59%.

Out of the total revenue of US$4.4 billion from fishery exports in January-June, shrimp exports contributed over US$1.6 billion, growing by 7% year-on-year.

Tuna exports from January to June expanded by nearly 25% against the year-ago period to US$477 million. This growth was driven by a strong surge in the canned and bagged fish segment, according to VASEP.

Fishery exports to Vietnam’s top two markets, the U.S. and China, also reported substantial growth during the period, increasing by 14% and 18%, respectively.
