HCMC – Five officials from the Long Thanh District Land Fund Development Center have been prosecuted for violations related to land clearance, compensation, and resettlement during the Long Thanh International Airport project.

The officials include Le Quang Hung, director; Nguyen Long Chau, deputy director; and staff members Nguyen Thai Binh, Tran Nhat Linh, and Ly Thanh Binh.

Police have also initiated criminal proceedings and temporarily detained three officials from Binh Son Commune, Long Thanh District: Duong Ngoc Duc, acting chairman of the Binh Son Commune People’s Committee; Hoang Huu Minh, vice chairman of the Binh Son Commune People’s Committee; and Lam Hoang Thanh Hai, chairman of the Binh Son Commune Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.

The individuals have been indicted and detained on charges of abusing their positions and authority while performing public duties, accepting bribes, and violating regulations on compensation, support, and resettlement during state-led land expropriation for the Long Thanh International Airport project.

These legal actions were approved by the Dong Nai Province People’s Procuracy.

The latest arrests follow the earlier detention of Le Van Tiep, chairman of the People’s Committee of Long Thanh District, along with several other officials accused of misconduct in the compensation process.

The land expropriation, compensation, and resettlement project for Long Thanh International Airport was approved by the National Assembly in 2017, with a total investment of nearly VND23 trillion. The Dong Nai People’s Committee was designated as the project’s investor.
