Unable to draw the national flag on the roof of the house like others have done, Nguyen Phuc Duc, a student of Thai Nguyen University of Sciences in the northeastern province of Thai Nguyen, has arranged the flag with 30 blood donation certificates that he has received over the past eight years.

When Duc was a sixth grader, he lost his right arm up to the elbow after an accident. It took him too much time to get used to doing everything with his left hand, and he was therefore afraid of appearing in public. Later, thanks to participating in voluntary activities at school and in his locality, Duc gradually became open to other people. Eight years ago, encouraged by his two close friends, he began to donate blood for those in need.

After his first blood donation, Duc has been fond of this deed. He would donate blood whenever he met the regulations of the Health Ministry. He has thus donated blood for 30 times over the past eight years. The 30 blood donation certificates are enough for him to arrange the red flag with a golden star, dantri.com.vn reported.

Exchanging milk for kids’ smiles

The videos in which Tran Trung Chien, 31, gives boxes of milk to children in mountainous areas in exchange for their smiles have gone viral on social media these days.

Chien, a freelance trader in Duy Tien Town, Ha Nam Province, told thanhnien.vn that when he traveled to some mountainous areas a few years ago, he bought milk and sweets for children there and was happy to see joy in their eyes. He then told himself that he would do so to bring joy to the kids.

On the trip lasting one month and a half to Lung Ho Commune, Yen Minh District, Ha Giang Province, Chien brought with him over 2,000 boxes of milk for the Mong children there. Some mountainous villages could be accessed only on foot. Chien said he spent about VND10 million buying milk for the kids, adding that the money came from his ride-hailing job at night in 20 days in a row.

Chien said his greatest reward was the smiles of the kids when they received the milk. After viewing Chien’s videos, some have sent boxes of milk to him as a way to lend him a hand to bring more joy to mountainous children.

Vietnamese-American man sets record with 7,000 signatures on truck

Vietnamese-American Sky Le has set a Guinness World Record by collecting 7,000 signatures on his pickup truck. Over 330 days, Le traveled 40,000 kilometers across the U.S., meeting 20,000 people. His journey began on August 12, 2023, from St. Louis, Missouri, with an initial goal of 5,000 signatures within a year.

Inspired by the Covid-19 pandemic to preserve memories, Le first had customers at his St. Louis hair salon sign a wall. When that was full, he decided to travel the world and collect signatures on his truck, linking the project with a charity fundraiser for cancer patients. Although early efforts along the West Coast resulted in 2,000 signatures that did not meet Guinness requirements, he persevered.

By spending time in Texas and other areas, and earning the trust of locals, Le finally achieved his goal. His truck now holds the Guinness World Record for the most signatures ever collected on a vehicle, reported the VnExpress news site.
