Foreign leaders send greetings on Vietnam’s National Day

HCMC – Leaders of many countries have sent messages and letters of congratulations to Vietnam’s Party and State leaders on the occasion of the 80th National Day, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025), leaders of Laos, China, Cambodia, Cuba, Russia, South Korea, India, Mongolia, and the U.S. sent letters of congratulations to Vietnam.

Lao leaders said in their messages that Vietnam’s August Revolution and National Day are a shared source of pride and inspiration for Laos in its nation-building and defence.

They expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, led by Party General Secretary To Lam, Vietnam will continue to secure major achievements and advance toward becoming a prosperous, modern, democratic, fair, and civilized industrialized nation.

Chinese President and Party General Secretary Xi Jinping, together with other senior Chinese leaders, sent congratulations, praising Vietnam’s socio-economic progress and its rising role in the region and the world.

They stressed that China considers Vietnam a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy and voiced the hope of further strengthening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

In their messages, King Norodom Sihamoni and Cambodian leaders emphasized that September 2 marks a historic milestone symbolizing the solidarity and steadfast will of the Vietnamese people.

They expressed confidence that Vietnam will achieve its goal of becoming a high-income nation by 2045, and reaffirmed their commitment to further advancing ties of good-neighborliness, friendship, and sustainable cooperation with Vietnam.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez hailed Vietnam’s historic victories, saying the nation’s struggle for independence and its Renovation (Doi moi) process remain a source of inspiration. He said that Cuba will continue to foster the close bond of friendship between the two peoples.

President Vladimir Putin and other senior Russian leaders also sent congratulations, highlighting Vietnam’s remarkable achievements over the past 80 years and its growing international stature. They noted that the Russia-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership has continued to advance, delivering benefits to the peoples of both nations.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, on behalf of the U.S. Government, sent congratulations on Vietnam’s National Day, expressing admiration for the resilience and determination of the Vietnamese people and the progress the country has achieved, according to a statement from the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi.

Rubio noted that Vietnam continues to demonstrate strong growth and development, calling it an indispensable partner of the United States in the Indo-Pacific and a leading country in addressing shared global challenges.

In addition, leaders of many political parties and foreign ministers from various countries also sent congratulatory messages and letters to the leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly, and Government of Vietnam.
