Former deputy industry and trade minister charged

HCMC – Ministry of Public Security (MPS) investigators have pressed charges against Hoang Quoc Vuong, former deputy minister of Industry and Trade, for allegedly abusing his position and power while on official duty.

The accomplices facing the same charges include Phuong Hoang Kim, Party secretary and head of the Energy Conservation and Sustainable Development Department at the ministry; Tran Quoc Hung, deputy head of the Licensing and Public Relations Division at the Electricity Regulation Department at the ministry; and Nguyen Danh Son, secretary of the Party Committee and director of the Electricity Power Trading Company.

MPS’s investigative police agency A09 has issued a conclusion on the case of abuse of positions and powers while on duty, and negligence leading to serious consequences that occurred at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, EVN, and various provinces and cities.

According to the investigation conclusion, Vuong and Kim abused their positions and powers at the Ministry of Industry and Trade to advise the Prime Minister on issuing regulations regarding the scope of beneficiaries and conditions for receiving preferential electricity pricing policies.

As of June 28, 2023, the damage caused to EVN by the actions of these people amounts to more than VND937 billion.
