FPT joins hands with South Korea’s ABOV Semiconductor to develop next-generation chips

HCMC – FPT Corporation has inked a deal with South Korea’s ABOV Semiconductor to advance joint research, design, and development of semiconductors, while expanding market reach and boosting the adoption of semiconductor products in South Korea.

The signing ceremony took place during the Vietnam-South Korea Economic Forum 2025, witnessed by Party General Secretary To Lam, South Korean Prime Minister Kim Min Seok, and senior officials from both nations.

Under the partnership, the two sides will leverage FPT-designed chips, particularly for the South Korean market, and collaborate on projects to develop advanced semiconductor lines.

They will also create competitive products and pursue other flexible cooperation initiatives based on project-specific and market demands.

As part of its semiconductor development plan in South Korea, FPT Corporation aims to help build a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem, spanning from talent development to services, with a focus on sustainable and long-term growth.

ABOV Semiconductor is a leading South Korean company specializing in the design and production of microcontroller and memory chips.

In the field of education, FPT University has signed a cooperation agreement with Gachon University, one of South Korea’s leading universities, to strengthen collaboration in areas such as student exchange and training, joint training programs, faculty, scholar, and expert exchanges.

The agreement is expected to help improve the quality of technology workforce training, foster academic connections, and promote knowledge exchange between Vietnam and South Korea.

Gachon University is renowned for its strengths in information technology and advanced technologies, particularly in semiconductors, data science, and artificial intelligence. The university has also collaborated on research with many leading technology corporations, including Samsung, LG, and SK Hynix.
