HCMC – Gasoline prices edged down while diesel and other fuels continued edging up in line with global market movements during the review today, February 20, the fourth day of the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

Under the new price structure effective from 3 p.m. today, RON95-III gasoline decreased by VND146 to VND19,152 per liter, while E5-RON92 gasoline dropped by VND200 to VND18,634 per liter. In contrast, diesel 0.05S rose by VND62 to VND18,525 per liter. Kerosene and heavy fuel oil rose to VND18,615 per liter and VND15,862 per kg, respectively.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, this pricing strategy aims to maintain a reasonable price gap between biofuel and mineral gasoline, encouraging the use of eco-friendly fuels. Meanwhile, the National Fuel Price Stabilization Fund remained inactive during this review, with no appropriations or expenditures. Petrolimex, the country’s top fuel retailer, has reported a fund balance of VND3,088 billion.

Under current regulations, fuel price reviews typically occur every Thursday. However, as the scheduled date fell on the third day of the Lunar New Year, the adjustment was deferred to Friday, February 20. This follows a general price hike across all categories recorded during the previous review on February 12.
