HCMC – The three-day GBA Oktoberfest kicked off in HCMC yesterday, October 10, bringing the vibrant spirit of German beer festival to the southern city after its previous editions in Hanoi and Danang.
The event features various German-themed activities, including a buffet of traditional Bavarian dishes, a free-flowing selection of German and local beers, and live entertainment from the Austria-based Oktoberfest band, O’zapft Band.
Christopher David Scholl, deputy consul general of Germany in HCMC, expressed his appreciation for the warm hospitality the German community consistently receives from their Vietnamese hosts. He emphasized that Oktoberfest is an opportunity to reciprocate this kindness and share German culture with the local community.
Scholl highlighted the event’s potential for fostering stronger ties between Vietnamese and German individuals and organizations.
The Oktoberfest in HCMC comes after its previous editions held in Hanoi and Danang. The Hanoi event from September 26 to 28 drew 1,700 attendees each night, while the Danang event attracted over 500 visitors on October 4.
The event is organized by the German Business Association (GBA), the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (AHK Vietnam), and JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi.
