HCMC – With 440 out of 440 deputies present voting in favor, the National Assembly (NA) on day one of its eighth sitting today, October 21, passed a resolution electing General Luong Cuong as State President for the 2021-2026 tenure.
General Luong Cuong was then sworn in as new State President of Vietnam, marking the beginning of his term.
Luong Cuong was born in 1957 in the northern province of Phu Tho. He has been serving as a member of the Politburo of the 13th tenure, a permanent member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat of the 13th tenure, Secretary of the Party Central Committee of the 12th, a member of the Party Central Committee of the 11th, 12th, and 13th tenures, and a deputy to the National Assembly in the 15th term.
