HCMC – Party General Secretary To Lam and his spouse left Hanoi this morning, November 21, for a three-day official visit to Malaysia.
The visit is at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his wife. The Vietnamese delegation included senior officials from the Politburo, the Party Central Committee, and the Government.
The trip is expected to strengthen Vietnam-Malaysia relations, consolidating high-level political trust and demonstrating Vietnam’s commitment to deepening ties with neighboring countries, reported the Vietnam News Agency.
Vietnam seeks to elevate bilateral ties to a new level, aligned with the development goals of both nations.
The two Southeast Asian countries, which established diplomatic relations in 1973, will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership next year.
Vietnam’s trade with Malaysia grew robustly in the first nine months of 2024. Two-way trade amounted to US$10.63 billion, up by 14.1% from the same period in 2023.
