HCMC – With 472 out of 473 deputies present voting in favor, the National Assembly (NA) has passed a resolution electing General To Lam as State President for the 2021-2026 tenure.
At the NA’s seventh sitting this morning, May 22, the legislature conducted a procedure to elect State President for the 2021-2026 tenure.
With 472 out of 473 NA deputies present at the ongoing sitting voted in favor, the NA passed the resolution on Lam’s election.
After being elected, General To Lam was sworn in as new State President of Vietnam, marking the beginning of his term.
To Lam was born in 1957 in Hung Yen Province. He has been serving as a member of the Politburo of the 12th and 13th tenures, a member of the Party Central Committee of the 11th, 12th, and 13th tenures, and a deputy to the National Assembly in the 14th and 15th terms.
This morning, he was relieved of his duties as Minister of Public Security.
