HCMC – SJC gold prices fell by VND300,000 per tael from the previous session to VND184.5-185 million on the morning of February 26, the God of Wealth Day (the 10th day of the first lunar month).
At 9:15 a.m., Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), DOJI and Phu Quy Jewelry Company quoted SJC gold at VND182 million per tael for buying and VND185 million per tael for selling, down VND300,000 per tael against the February 25 close.
Phu Quy Jewelry Company quoted gold rings at VND181.5 million per tael for buying and VND184.5 million per tael for selling, down VND300,000 per tael. Meanwhile, Bao Tin Minh Chau Jewelry Company listed gold rings at VND181.8 million per tael for buying and VND184.8 million per tael for selling, up VND300,000 per tael from the previous session.
The domestic gold buying-selling spread remained unchanged at at VND3 million per tael.
Globally, gold traded at around US$5,188 per ounce, equivalent to approximately VND164.3 million per tael based on the U.S. dollar exchange rate at Vietcombank. The global price was about VND20.7 million per tael lower than the domestic SJC brand.
Silver prices declined in the domestic market at around 8:30–8:36 a.m. on February 26 compared with the close on February 25, with selling prices exceeding VND92 million per kilogram.
At 8:34 a.m., Ancarat Vietnam quoted silver at VND3.359 million per tael for buying and VND3.463 million per tael for selling, down VND36,000 per tael for buying and VND37,000 per tael for selling from the close on February 25. Silver was also quoted at VND89.573 million per kilogram for buying and VND92.347 million per kilogram for selling, down VND960,000 per kilogram for buying and VND986,000 per kilogram for selling from the previous session.
Phu Quy quoted silver at VND3.361 million per tael for buying and VND3.465 million per tael for selling, both down VND17,000 per tael from the close on February 25.
DOJI quoted silver at VND3.377 million per tael for buying and VND3.481 million per tael for selling, down slightly from the close on February 25.
Globally, spot silver traded at US$89.86 per ounce at 8:43 a.m. Vietnam time, up 0.87% from the previous session’s close.
On the same morning, the State Bank of Vietnam set the central exchange rate at VND25,051 per U.S. dollar, down VND6 from February 25. Commercial banks lowered their U.S. dollar rates by VND15-19.
Vietcombank quoted the dollar at VND25,880 for buying and VND26,290 for selling, down VND19 from the previous session. VietinBank listed rates at VND25,885 for buying and VND26,265 for selling, down VND15.
BIDV traded the dollar at VND25,910 for buying and VND26,290 for selling, while Eximbank Vietnam’s quotations were VND25,890 for buying and VND26,290 for selling, both down VND19.
