Gold prices bounce back

HCMC – SJC gold bar prices rebounded this morning, December 17, to around VND156 million per tael after a period of steep declines.

Domestic gold bar prices were quoted at VND156.2 million per tael on the selling side on December 17, up VND600,000 per tael from the previous session’s close, according to bieudogiavang.vn.

Specifically, SJC and DOJI Group listed gold bars at VND154.2 million per tael for buying and VND156.2 million per tael for selling, up VND600,000 per tael on both sides compared with the previous session.

As for gold rings, SJC quoted buying prices at VND150.3 million per tael and selling prices at VND153.3 million per tael, down VND300,000 and VND100,000 per tael, respectively.

DOJI Group listed gold ring prices at VND151 million per tael for buying and VND154.4 million per tael for selling, unchanged on the buying side and up VND400,000 per tael on both buying and selling compared with the previous session.

Earlier on December 17, domestic gold prices had fallen sharply, with SJC gold bars retreating to around VND155 million per tael after repeatedly setting record highs.

On the global market, spot gold had risen 0.2% to US$4,310.21 per ounce as of 1:48 a.m. Vietnam time on December 17, while U.S gold futures had slipped 0.1% to US$4,332.3 per ounce, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
