HCMC – Domestic gold prices surged on October 13, with SJC gold bars rising VND800,000 per tael to VND143.6 million on the selling side.
As of 9:00 a.m., Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) and Doji quoted gold bars at VND141.6 million for buying and VND143.6 million for selling, up VND800,000 from the previous session on October 11. Phu Quy listed gold bars at VND140.8 million for buying and VND143.6 million for selling, also gaining VND800,000 per tael.
Gold ring prices followed a similar trend. Phu Quy traded rings at VND138.1 million for buying and VND141.1 million for selling, up VND800,000, while Bao Tin Minh Chau listed prices at VND138.4 million for buying and VND141.4 million for selling, up VND400,000 per tael.
On the global market, gold was traded around US$4,055 per ounce, equivalent to roughly VND128.8 million per tael at Vietcombank’s exchange rate. Domestic SJC gold currently exceeds the world rate by about VND14.8 million per tael.
The State Bank of Vietnam this morning set the central rate at VND25,112 per U.S. dollar, down VND16 from the previous session.
Within the trading band of 5% on either side of the central rate, Vietcombank quoted the dollar at VND26,097–26,367 (buy/sell), VietinBank at VND26,138–26,367, BIDV at VND26,140–26,367, and Eximbank at VND26,130–26,367 per dollar.
