HCMC – Gold prices at major traders including SJC, DOJI, and Phu Quy jumped VND500,000 per tael on September 5, sending the selling price to VND134.4 million per tael and setting a fresh record high in the market.
At around 9 a.m. this morning, SJC listed gold bar prices at VND132.9 million per tael for buying and VND134.4 million for selling, up VND500,000 from the previous day’s close. The buy-sell gap stood at VND1.5 million per tael.
DOJI and Bao Tin Minh Chau posted similar rates for gold bars.
At Phu Quy Jewelry, gold bars were quoted at VND131.9 million per tael for buying and VND134.4 million for selling, up VND400,000 and VND500,000 per tael, respectively. The buy-sell spread stood at VND2.5 million per tael.
In line with gold bar movements, ring gold prices also surged at many companies.
SJC listed ring gold at VND126.7 million per tael for buying and VND129.2 million for selling, both up by VND500,000 per tael compared to the previous day’s close.
Globally, spot gold fell 0.4% to US$3,544.15 an ounce in the September 4 session, while U.S. gold futures dropped 0.9% to US$3,603.7 an ounce, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
In the broader precious metals market, spot silver slid 1.2% to US$40.71 an ounce, and platinum plunged 3.8% to US$1,367.61 an ounce.
