HCMC – Domestic gold prices have edged down today, October 10, with SJC gold slipping below VND142 million per tael on the selling side, following a global price drop and a weaker U.S. dollar.
As of 9:00 a.m., Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) and Doji quoted gold bars at VND139.9 million for buying and VND141.9 million for selling, down VND600,000 from the previous day. Phu Quy Group also lowered its prices by the same amount, listing VND138.5 million for buying and VND141.9 million for selling.
Gold ring prices declined further. Phu Quy listed ring gold at VND136.7 million for buying and VND139.7 million for selling, down VND800,000, while Bao Tin Minh Chau quoted VND137.8 million and VND140.8 million, down VND400,000 from yesterday.
On the global market, gold was traded at around US$3,980 per ounce, down US$44 from the previous session. This price equals roughly VND126.6 million per tael based on Vietcombank’s exchange rate, leaving domestic gold about VND15.3 million per tael higher.
The State Bank of Vietnam today set the central exchange rate at VND25,128 per U.S. dollar, down two dong from the previous day.
Within the 5% trading band, Vietcombank quoted the greenback at VND26,134–26,384 per dollar (buy/sell), while VietinBank, BIDV, and Eximbank offered similar rates.
