HCMC – Domestic gold ring prices declined on the morning of February 27 compared with the previous session, while gold bar prices held steady, with SJC-branded gold bars quoted at VND181 million per tael for buying and VND184 million for selling.
On the domestic market, gold bar prices at Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) were quoted at VND181 million for buying and VND184 million for selling, unchanged from the close on February 26. Compared with the morning of the God of Wealth Day, SJC gold bars were down VND1 million per tael. The buying-selling spread stayed unchanged at VND3 million per tael.
Gold ring prices were quoted at VND180.8 million per tael for buying and VND183.8 million for selling, down VND200,000 per tael from the close on February 26. Compared with the morning of the God of Wealth Day, gold ring prices fell by VND700,000-900,000 per tael. PNJ quoted its gold rings at VND180.9 million per tael for buying and VND183.9 million for selling, unchanged from the previous session. Phu Quy kept gold ring prices at VND180.5 million for buying and VND183.5 million for selling, unchanged from the close on February 26.
Globally, gold traded at around US$5,171 per ounce, little changed from the previous session.
In the domestic silver market, silver bar prices dropped by VND4 million per kilogram from the previous morning. Phu Quy quoted silver bars at VND3.2 million per tael for buying and VND3.3 million per tael for selling, equivalent to VND88 million per kilogram, down VND4 million per kilogram from the previous morning. Ancarat reduced silver bar prices by VND4 million per kilogram to VND88 million per kilogram compared with the previous morning.
On the same morning, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) reduced the central foreign exchange rate by VND7 to VND25,044 per U.S. dollar.
Commercial banks raised the U.S. dollar price after earlier declines. Vietcombank increased it by VND10, quoting the dollar at VND25,860-25,890 for buying and VND26,270 for selling. ACB added VND10, sending it up to VND25,860-25,890 for buying and VND26,250 for selling. VietinBank revised it up by VND5 to VND25,880 for buying and VND26,260 for selling.
