HCMC – Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has given in-principle approval for the Long Son My Xuan port project in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

The VND2,385-billion project aims to develop Long Son My Xuan general port within the Thi Vai port area, aligning with the approved master plan.

It is expected to enhance economic activities, support industrial zones in the province and neighboring areas, and drive socio-economic growth in both Ba Ria-Vung Tau and the broader southern region.

Under the approved plan, the project will include the construction of a 270-meter-long berth, capable of accommodating general cargo ships of up to 30,000 DWT, along with four barge berths totaling 530 meters in length for vessels and barges up to 7,500 DWT.

Additional infrastructure will include a warehouse system, a cement grinding facility with a capacity of 2.3 million tons per year, port infrastructure, and a waterside area in front of the berths. The project will be developed on a 41.65-hectare site in My Xuan Ward, Phu My Town, Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

The People’s Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province has been assigned to allocate land to the investor in accordance with the approved land use planning, land use plan, and port development master plan, ensuring compliance with land regulations.

The Ministry of Construction and other relevant agencies will finalize detailed planning for the development of land and water areas of Ba Ria-Vung Tau’s seaport, providing the necessary foundation for the project’s implementation. They will also assist the investor in reviewing and completing documentation during the feasibility study phase.
