HCMC – Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh has signed a decision establishing a free trade zone in the central city of Danang, aiming to develop a hub for manufacturing, logistics, digital technology, and innovation.
The Danang Free Trade Zone will cover 1,881 hectares across seven separate locations in Lien Chieu District and Hoa Vang District, reported the Government news website (baochinhphu.vn).
The project will be integrated with key infrastructure, including Lien Chieu Port, Danang International Airport, and the East-West Economic Corridor. It is part of the country’s strategy to enhance supply chain connectivity and promote high-tech and sustainable industries.
The zone will include dedicated areas for production and logistics, trade and services, digital technology, and innovation. It will support sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, cloud computing, and renewable energy.
The production-logistics area will focus on high-tech industries, multimodal transport services, and international supply chain links. The trade-service zone will provide duty-free retail, e-commerce, tourism, education, and healthcare facilities. The digital technology and innovation area will support startups and tech businesses with legal, financial, training, and residential services.
The Danang government has been assigned to lead planning, land clearance, infrastructure development, and investor attraction in coordination with relevant ministries. The project will be implemented in line with national development strategies and the city’s approved planning.
