HCMC – The Government has directed ministries and agencies to develop a plan to strengthen the country’s energy workforce, aiming to train 25,000 to 35,000 engineers and experts by 2030, with a focus on nuclear and renewable energy.
The plan is part of the Government’s Resolution 328, which implements the Politburo’s Resolution 70 on ensuring national energy security through 2030 and setting a vision to 2045.
Under the resolution, investment in science, technology, and human resources is considered key to achieving energy security. The energy sector will be added to the list of national priority training fields.
Training will focus on nuclear energy, renewables such as wind and solar power, and emerging energy sources including hydrogen and biomass.
The Government also requires stronger investment in research, technology, and innovation in the energy industry. Spending on research and development must reach at least 2% of the sector’s GDP, targeting technologies such as energy storage and smart grids.
Energy companies are encouraged to enhance research capacity, apply new technologies, and establish innovation centers and national laboratories. The Government aims to attract 60 to 80 advanced technology transfer projects in the coming years.
