HCMC — Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has signed Decision No. 1722 establishing a state appraisal council for reviewing the investment policy of the Gia Binh International Airport project, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
The council is chaired by the minister of finance, with a deputy minister of finance serving as vice chair. Members include leaders from the Ministries of Construction; Public Security; National Defense; Justice; Foreign Affairs; Agriculture and Environment; Science and Technology; and Culture, Sports and Tourism, as well as the State Bank of Vietnam and the People’s Committee of Bac Ninh Province.
The Ministry of Finance will act as the standing body of the council. Its responsibilities and authority will follow regulations on appraising national key projects and monitoring investment activities. The council’s appraisal report must clearly state whether the project dossier meets the conditions for the Government to submit to the National Assembly for approval.
The council may use the seal and accounts of the Ministry of Finance for operational purposes and will dissolve after the investment policy is approved.
Under the adjusted master plan approved by the Ministry of Construction on August 1, Gia Binh International Airport will cover nearly 1,960 hectares across Gia Binh, Luong Tai, Nhan Thang, and Lam Thao communes in Bac Ninh. Classified as a 4E airport, it will serve both civilian and military purposes.
