In a country where rapid urban growth is reshaping daily life, Grab Vietnam is turning its technology and network into tools for positive environmental action. On October 22, the company officially launched the “Vững-Xanh” (Sustainably Green) program — a long-term initiative aimed at accelerating green transition and protecting the environment through collaboration with government agencies, local partners, and the Grab community.
The program marks the next chapter in Grab’s sustainability journey, following years of community-driven initiatives that blend environmental action with social value. With Vững-Xanh, Grab seeks not only to reduce emissions but also to empower local communities to live more sustainably.
In 2025, the program plans to plant 100,000 trees across Danang City and Khanh Hoa Province, install more than 210,000 improved cookstoves, and replace six million incandescent bulbs with energy-efficient LED lamps in remote areas. These actions are designed to address deforestation, reduce household emissions, and promote energy savings — all while improving living standards in under-resourced communities.
“Over the years, we’ve seen stronger engagement from users who care deeply about the environment,” said Ma Tuan Trong, managing director of Grab Vietnam. “That support motivates us to expand our environmental programs beyond tree planting to include emission-reduction and energy-saving initiatives. With the power of technology and our connected platform, we believe the Vững-Xanh Program will continue to create widespread positive impacts for both the environment and local communities.”
Greening the landscape: Planting 100,000 trees in 2025
The launch of Vững-Xanh was marked by a partnership signing ceremony for the Grab For Good Forest project, uniting Grab Vietnam, the Danang Protective Forest Management Board, and the Sống Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to sustainable community development.
“With 20,000 trees contributed by Grab and its users through the Sống Foundation, 18 hectares of protective forest around Phu Ninh Reservoir will be restored,” said Vo Hung Nhan, director of the Danang Forest Management Board. “It’s a meaningful beginning that supports the Government’s goal of planting one billion trees nationwide, while enhancing resilience to climate change and extreme weather.”

Under the agreement, the partners will first plant 20,000 trees in the Phu Ninh watershed protection forest, helping to safeguard groundwater sources, prevent soil erosion, and expand forest cover. They will also collaborate on biodiversity conservation, public awareness campaigns, and scientific assessments to track forest growth and ecosystem benefits.
Beyond Danang, another 80,000 trees will be planted in the Tan Giang – Thuan Nam protective forest in Khanh Hoa — an area critical to local ecosystems and climate adaptation efforts.
This initiative follows the success of Grab’s 2024 Grab For Good Forest project, which planted more than 171,000 trees and scattered 150,000 seed bombs across Ninh Thuan and Khanh Hoa provinces. These projects not only restore ecosystems and safeguard water sources but also create long-term livelihood opportunities for nearby communities.
“Tree planting is one of the most tangible ways to act for a greener future,” said Nguyen Ngoc Nhan, Program Manager of Green Happiness at the Sống Foundation. “Working with Grab Vietnam allows us to expand forest protection and spread environmental awareness. From planning to monitoring, we ensure transparency and quality in every stage of reforestation.”
Cleaner air, brighter homes: emission reduction through innovation
Beyond reforestation, Vững-Xanh also tackles carbon emissions and household energy consumption through a partnership with INTRACO, a company specializing in sustainable technologies. Together, they will install more than 210,000 improved cookstoves and distribute six million LED bulbs nationwide — free of charge to low-income households.
These innovations will help families save on energy costs, reduce indoor air pollution, and lower carbon emissions. For many rural women and children, improved cookstoves also mean fewer hours spent collecting firewood — freeing up time for education and income-generating activities.
The environmental benefits are equally significant: less fuel burned, cleaner air, and reduced strain on Vietnam’s electricity grid.
Grab users can take part in these initiatives by selecting the Vững-Xanh Program feature directly on the Grab app. Every small contribution adds up — helping fund reforestation, clean energy, and conservation initiatives not only in Vietnam but also across the region.
Some of the collected funds also support conservation efforts at the Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary in Cambodia, which protects 290,000 hectares of forest and provides a safe habitat for over 80 endangered species. The project also helps improve livelihoods for local indigenous communities who rely on forest ecosystems.
A long-term vision for a greener tomorrow
With Vững-Xanh, Grab Vietnam continues to demonstrate that corporate growth and environmental stewardship can go hand in hand. The company’s approach — combining technology, partnerships, and community engagement — reflects a broader vision of sustainable living in Vietnam’s fast-developing cities.
By planting trees, promoting cleaner cooking, and encouraging responsible energy use, Grab is not just offsetting its environmental footprint — it is helping communities build resilience in the face of climate change.
