HCMC – The Management Board of Ban Gioc Waterfall Tourist Area has announced the temporary suspension of transportation arrangements for visitors between Vietnam and China at the borderline Ban Gioc-Detian Waterfall.
Travel agents are advised to inform guests that services have been suspended starting from August 11, 2024, until further notice. This temporary halt is due to an incident that occurred in the Chinese part of the waterfall, with one Chinese reported dead and 60 others injured, said a VnExpress news report.
Tourists will receive refunds if payments have been made. Meanwhile, activities in domestic tourist areas surrounding the waterfall remain normal.
The transportation services of visitors between Vietnam and China at the Ban Gioc-Detian Waterfall have been piloted since September 15, 2023. After over 10 months of trial operation, nearly 950 groups with around 12,000 visitors undertook immigration procedures for cross-border sightseeing at the waterfall.
