HCMC – Hoang Anh Gia Lai JSC (HAG) has reduced its bond debt by VND1 trillion for a bond lot held by BIDV.
The company settled VND824 billion on December 30 and VND206 billion on December 29, leaving VND766 billion in principal outstanding.
The company attributed the incomplete repayment to delays in liquidating some underperforming assets. It plans to settle the remaining balance by the second quarter of 2025.
Funds for the recent payments came from a VND1 trillion transfer from Hoang Anh Gia Lai International Agriculture JSC, the firm said.
As of the third quarter of 2024, HAG reported over VND4.1 trillion in short-term debt and nearly VND3.1 trillion in long-term debt. After the bond repayments, its total debt has decreased to over VND6 trillion.
The firm had taken out loans from multiple banks, including over VND1.6 trillion from LPBank, VND459 billion from TPBank, and VND556 billion from Sacombank.
In the fourth quarter of 2024, the company refinanced part of its debt, reducing its obligations to LPBank and borrowing from OCB at competitive rates.
Closing the trading session today, December 31, HAG edged up by 0.42% to VND12,050 per share, with a matching volume of nearly 7.4 million shares.
Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index dipped 5.24 points, or 0.41%, to close at 1,266.78 on the last trading day of 2024, with 155 winners and 254 losers.
The session saw 480.5 million shares worth VND11.5 trillion traded, down by 28% in volume and 31% in value over the previous day. Block deals contributed 73.3 million shares valued at nearly VND2 trillion.
For 2024, the VN-Index gained nearly 137 points, or 12.1%, from its starting level of 1,229.9 points. The index reached its highest level of the year at over 1,300 points on June 13.
Major stocks in the VN30 basket, which groups the 30 largest-cap stocks, drove the VN30-Index lower, down by 2.6 points, or 0.19%, to 1,344.75 points. HDB dropped by 4.3% to VND25,550, while CTG fell 3.8% to VND37,800. Other notable decliners included STB, BVH, and BID, which saw losses ranging from 1.8% to 2.5%.
Blue-chip gains were modest, with VNM, TCB, and MBB rising between 0.2% and 1.6%. Securities broker VIX took the lead by liquidity with more than 14.7 million shares changing hands.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index lost 0.71 point, or 0.31%, to 227.43 points. The exchange recorded 76 gainers and 80 decliners, with trading volume reaching 36.1 million shares valued at VND588.3 billion.
