HCMC – The construction of the east-west road project in Kim Thanh District in the northern province of Hai Duong began yesterday, July 27, with a total investment of VND1.497 trillion.
This is one of the two key traffic projects of the district in the 2020-2025 period. The provincial People’s Council authorized the Kim Thanh government to execute the project using the 2021-2025 public investment fund.
The 14.72-kilometer road will have six lanes and allow vehicles to travel at a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour. The project will be implemented in three phases.
The route in the first phase will be 3.68 kilometers long and cost some VND230 billion in investment, backed by the district’s budget. This section is slated for completion next year.
The second phase, lasting from 2023 to 2024, will require an investment of nearly VND350 billion. The project will need an additional VND222 billion for the third phase between 2024 and 2025. From 2025 onward, the district will continue to invest in the east-west route and a road section linking with a National Highway 5A intersection, with an investment of around VND694 billion.
The east-west route in Kim Thanh, once completed, will connect with a north-south route in the province and will be expanded to the southern part of the district to gradually replace the existing National Highway 17B section running through Kim Thanh, said Pham Quang Hung, chairman of the Kim Thanh District government.
The east-west route will link with the Trang Due and An Duong industrial parks in neighboring Haiphong City, he added.
