HCMC – The People’s Committee of Hanoi City has approved a revised plan for a section of Metro Line No. 2 that will tunnel under Hoan Kiem Lake and parts of the Old Quarter, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
The plan, detailed in Decision No. 4412, covers the route and construction layout at a 1/500 scale for the C8–C10 section of the Nam Thang Long–Tran Hung Dao line.
The line will run underground through Hoan Kiem and Cua Nam wards, with two parallel tunnels that switch to a stacked layout between Hang Duong and Hang Chieu streets. It will pass beneath Hang Duong, Hang Ngang, Hang Dao, Hoan Kiem Lake, Dinh Tien Hoang, and Hang Bai streets.
The section will have three stations. Station C8 remains unchanged from the 2014 plan. Station C9 will be built under Dinh Tien Hoang Street near Hoan Kiem Lake Park and the Hanoi People’s Council and People’s Committee offices. It will have four underground levels and a total area of about 7,703 square meters.
Station C10 will be located at the Hang Bai–Tran Hung Dao intersection, with four underground levels and an area of around 5,482 square meters. It will connect with Station S13 of Metro Line No. 3, enabling transfers between the two lines.
This plan replaces earlier designs for the C8–C10 section approved in 2013 and 2016.
