HCMC – Authorities in Hoan Kiem Ward, Hanoi City, on March 5 cleared businesses encroaching on the railway safety corridor along the so-called “trackside cafes” from Dien Bien Phu to Tran Phu and Phung Hung streets.
An inter-agency force carried out the operation to dismantle structures and business activities encroaching on the railway safety zone, reported the Vietnam News Agency.
The move is part of the implementation of Resolution 57-NQ/TW, which focuses on strengthening state management capacity and modernizing infrastructure.
Local authorities stated that strict enforcement is intended to ensure traffic and rail safety and to create conditions for the railway sector to develop in a modern and coordinated manner.
The railway section running alongside Dien Bien Phu and Phung Hung streets has become a popular attraction in recent years, with cafes opening close to the tracks. Tour operators have organized visits to the area, leading to the growth of spontaneous selfie spots and makeshift cafes along the railway.
