HCMC – Hanoi Market Surveillance teams are inspecting over 110 gold trading businesses across the capital city from August 15 to October 15.
The primary goal of these inspections is to identify and strictly tackle violations in gold trading, such as dealing in substandard gold, breaches of intellectual property, failure to ensure product quality, lack of clear origin, smuggling, and pricing violations.
The businesses subject to inspection include those involved in the production, processing, trading, buying and selling, and repair of gold jewelry and handicrafts. Inspectors will also collect samples for quality testing if there are signs of potential violations.
Market surveillance teams in HCMC inspected numerous gold shops from the beginning of the year until July 15, with 196 cases of violations uncovered.
Authorities accordingly seized 1,657 jewelry items, including rings, necklaces, and bracelets, which were found to have unclear origins or counterfeit branding, with a total value of VND14.2 billion. A total of VND9.4 billion in administrative fines was imposed.
