HCMC – A man, aged 23, who lives in Hanoi City, travelled to Japan on September 30, and was reportedly infected with Covid-19 after taking a quick test at Narita International Airport in the country.

Khong Minh Tuan, deputy director of the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC), told Tuoi Tre Online today, October 5, that the man flew to Japan via Flight NH 898.

Hanoi CDC has promptly adopted some monitoring and disinfection measures and taken samples from nine of his family members for Covid-19 testing, though the center was awaiting the results of the test using the real-time PCR detection system.

The Hanoian had not had contact with any Covid-19 patient or travelled to Covid-19-hit places before he entered Japan.

Since September 3, Vietnam has witnessed no new locally transmitted Covid-19 cases.

This is the 11th case to test positive for Covid-19 following a rapid test after leaving Hanoi City for Japan, South Korea and France since August. However, the 10 previous cases tested negative for the virus after the real-time PCR detection system was used for testing.
